Course Overview

Sharpen your ultrasound exam skills while enhancing expertise and confidence! This Ultrasound course is designed to give specialists added proficiency and assurance when performing ultrasound exams on dogs and cats. Through lecture and small group, hands-on ultrasound wet labs, participants will be given instruction on normal abdominal ultrasound anatomy and appearance, as well as the appearance of disease in the liver, spleen, kidneys, bladder, adrenal glands, pancreas, and GI tract. Emphasis on more difficult areas, such as pancreatitis, hepatobiliary disease, and thyroid disease will be discussed.

Each lab station will be supervised by a Board-certified veterinary radiologist or senior radiology resident.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:
  1. Create and maintain the optimal image on your ultrasound machine
  2. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the liver and spleen, including utilization of the intercostal windows
  3. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the kidneys and bladder
  4. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the GI tract and pancreas
  5. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the adrenal glands and abdominal lymph nodes
  6. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of thoracic disease
  7. Understand techniques of ultrasound guided biopsy

RACE Application Status:
