COURSE OVERVIEW

The course will provide ACVIM Large Animal residents advanced training in equine respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, endocrine and metabolic disease and ophthalmology. This training program is designed to support the training that residents receive at their institutions by providing an intensive experience with experts in these fields. .

Topics covered include:

  • Equine Respiratory Disorders
  • Equine Cardiovascular Disorders
  • Equine Endocrine and Metabolic System Disorders
  • Equine Ophthalmology

Upon completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Obtain and interpret basic images of an echocardiogram.
  • Interpret electrocardiograms of the most common arrhythmias of horses.
  • Diagnose and treat murmurs, valvular heart disease, and cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Perform and interpret advanced and commonly used diagnostic procedures for respiratory disease of the horse.

Who is eligible to attend this course?
Registration is limited to the first 20 residents who successfully register. 1 resident will be allowed to attend per institution, regardless of resident year.

RACE Application Status:
This program will be submitted for 30.25 hours of live, seminar/lecture and lab medical continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB RACE-approval.

With your shared commitment and with the right processes in place, we are confident we can achieve a safe and viable return to in-person learning experiences.

The ACVIM pledges to follow the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, as well as state and local health organizations regarding this pandemic. The ACVIM is also working with Texas A&M University as well as the host hotel to ensure the safety of all attendees.

As the event nears, more detailed information about safety protocols and any updates from the facility will be communicated with participants. Although we are optimistic that we will be able to host this course in person, all courses are subject to change and/or cancellation. The ACVIM will keep all registered attendees informed should any such change and/or cancellation need to occur. ​​
