COURSE OVERVIEW

Course Description: 
This 2-day virtual course will focus on updates in pathophysiology, diagnostic and treatment strategies for small animal infectious diseases relevant to the small animal internal medicine specialist. Topics covered will include an update on coronavirus and FIP, feline infectious respiratory diseases, canine and feline bronchopneumonia, vector-borne and other emerging infectious diseases, and invasive fungal diseases.

This virtual program will consist of traditional lectures, short interactive discussions featuring key updates, and panel discussions. Diplomates and candidates will be provided with a unique opportunity to focus on specialist-level conditions, and learn clinically relevant concepts from some of the top infectious disease experts in the world.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  1. Understand and implement state of the art diagnostic and treatment options for canine and feline infectious respiratory diseases.
  2. Have a comprehensive understanding of coronavirus in dogs and cats, with a particular focus on the potential implications of advances in human coronavirus prevention and treatment of feline infectious peritonitis.
  3. Understand and apply novel diagnostic testing strategies for infectious diseases that are relevant to your patients.
  4. Identify, diagnose, and optimize your treatment strategy for invasive fungal diseases in your patients.
  5. Identify, diagnose, and treat important vector-borne and other emerging infectious diseases in your patients.

RACE Application Status:
This course has been approved for 16 hours of Non-Interactive distance medical continuing education credits in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB-RACE approval.
