COURSE OVERVIEW

This 3.5-day course will provide Candidates with advanced training in equine gastrointestinal, hepatic, neurologic, muscular, and urinary tract disorders. This Boot Camp is designed to support the training that residents receive at their institutions by providing an intensive experience with experts in these fields. The course will have a significant hands-on laboratory component while also providing attendees with an opportunity to network with other residents.

  • Equine Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Disorders
  • Equine Neurologic Disorders
  • Equine Muscle Disorders
  • Equine Urinary Tract Disorders

Upon successful completion of the course, Candidates will be able to:

  • Perform and interpret equine thoracic and abdominal ultrasonography
  • Perform and interpret equine liver biopsy
  • Perform and interpret equine gastroscopy and explain the diagnostic plan and treatment options for equine gastric ulcers, colonic ulcers, enterocolitis, and IBD
  • Perform and interpret an advanced examination of the equine neurologic system
  • Perform equine CSF collection via AO, AA or C1C2, and LS techniques and interpret results
  • Perform equine cervical imaging including myelography, and interpret results
  • Perform and interpret an advanced examination of the equine muscular system, and explain diagnostic approach
  • Perform and interpret equine muscle biopsy
  • Perform mare and gelding cystoscopy, urine collection from the bladder and ureters, and interpret urinalysis
  • Perform and interpret renal biopsy

RACE
This program will be submitted (but not yet approved) for 27.5 hours of live, seminar/lecture and lab medical continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB RACE-approval.

Wellbeing

While there are currently no wellbeing protocols in place, in the event protocols are needed, all course attendees will be asked to participate in and abide by all protocols implemented on-site for the event. We will continue to closely monitor all conditions related to COVID-19 between now and the start of the event and reserve the right to modify health screening protocols in our sole discretion. We will inform you of any such changes and as a condition of participation you would agree to follow these protocols.
